Posts in first on a line, then arris rails, then boards nailed with an overlap. It is built on site, which is why it follows an uneven ground line instead of leaving gaps under the panels.
Gravel boards
Concrete gravel boards keep the timber out of the wet soil, which is where fences rot first. They also let you dig a border against the fence without undermining it.
Finishing
Post caps and a capping rail on top keep water out of the end grain and make the line look finished. Treated timber can be left to silver or stained to the colour you want.
