The signs
Water droplets on the underside of the felt, black mould on the rafters, insulation that feels damp at the edges, and stains that appear in cold weather rather than during rain. That pattern is condensation, not a leak.
What we fit
Over-fascia or soffit vents to let air in at the eaves, tile or slate vents through the covering where needed, and a ventilated dry ridge to let it out at the top. Bathroom and kitchen extractor ducts sent outside rather than dumped into the loft.
While we are there
We check the insulation is not blocking the eaves gap, which is the commonest cause of all, and that any downlights or loft hatch are not pumping warm air upstairs.

Common questions
Is loft condensation dangerous?
Left for years it rots battens and rafters and ruins insulation, so it is worth sorting. It is also cheap to fix compared with the damage it does.
Will more insulation help?
Not on its own, and packed into the eaves it makes it worse by blocking the airflow. Ventilation and insulation have to work together.
Do I need vents if I have breathable membrane?
Breathable membrane helps but is not a substitute for eaves ventilation on most roofs, especially where the old felt is still in place underneath.
